One of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me, was the gift of a college education. Growing up my parents always talked about how a college education can open up doors for you and help make your goals & dreams come true. I remember hearing how important college is repeatedly from my parents over the years. My parents would say “there is nothing more important than a college education and doing well in school to get to college.” College was always this dreamy, wonderland, full of incredible opportunities that would come up in family conversations. Both my parents would talk to us about how they wished they went to college.
I was the first person in my family to graduate from a four- year university. Truly blessed to walk away from undergraduate education, debt-free, and with no student loans to repay. It was the best gift that my parents could have given to me. I never realized how amazing that gift was until I graduated from college debt-free and able to start my career without worrying about paying back student loans. I’m still so grateful to my parents for doing that for me, it meant that my future wasn’t harmed by taking out loans. The gift of education is one of the greatest presents I have ever received. It is a gift that keeps giving in more ways than one. It is a gift that I want to give my son and for him to give his kids one day.

I was the first person in my family to graduate from a university too! We just started a college fund for our daughter this year. The 1-Year Florida University Plan sounds like a really great idea!
It is good to know that there are plans like this now. We can already make sure of the education of our kids with this and no need to worry.
I wish I could have saved for college for the kids. My oldest graduates high school this year, but plans to take a year off to work and save up money so she can start after a year and two summers of working. I can’t believe my baby is that old though!
Great information. I don’t want any of my kids to be riddled with college debt. We started saving for them once I found out they were on the way. We continue to contribute every two weeks, a lot of time consistency is the key.
You are so spot on that giving your loved ones financial support on their college journey is so incredibly important and the greatest gift you can give. That’s why I ask my kids’ grandparents to contribute to their college funds as holiday gifts.

This is such a neat idea! My husband is pretty set on the idea that our kids need to put themselves through college because that is what we had to do, but I would love to have something.
Sometimes, I can’t wait for my kids to grow up and start college but I am afraid that I am going to miss them so much! Uggh.
I have a college loan that I carry debt for. This is a great plan for those with disposable income that can and want to give towards education instead of a child working for it.
Education is really a priceless gift. It’s nice that they have plans already you can purchase to ensure the gift of learning.
Giving the gift of education is a wonderful idea. It’s definitely worth considering for kids with lots of career goals.
My husband and I were both the first in our families to go to college. We didn’t have a college savings plan of any kind, so we spent about 15 years paying off loans. When we had kids, one of our first decisions was to start saving for college for our kids so they wouldn’t need loans. Giving them the gift of a debt-free start to adulthood means a lot to us. One down. Two to go. 😉
Enlist grandparents and other relatives to help by giving money put into a college account to be used later. We did this for our grandchildren and you would be amazed at how much money they have now.
I was lucky that my college debt wasn’t very high. My wedding actually cost more than the total of my school loans. We have our children’s college fund growing now.

we (my husband and I ) feel the exact same way your parents did. I keep telling my kiddos, your only job right now is to focus on good grades, your educations and getting into the best school you can, that we can afford! We opened college funds as soon as all our kiddos were born. They have a great start on their education funds
What a wonderful plan and such a great idea to give the gift of college for Christmas. I’m going to add to my grandkids’ college funds every chance I get.

These are great ways to save for college. I suppose my kids will end up having to take out student loans like I did, though.
I love that there are plans like this! Family members helping out is awesome. I know we won’t be able to afford sending our kids to college on our own.
