Books, books, and more books! We started the count down to Christmas with books tradition a few years ago. Instead of an Advent Calendar Little Dude gets to unwrap a new book every night. We start first night in December. Our Elf, Phoenix delivers a basket of wrapped books with a note that says to open 1 book a day until Christmas.
I try to start early and start buying cute books when I see them. I try to buy a variety of books, some Christmas books, some classic stories, and some he’s picked from the pictures on other books. I wrap them up and place them in a basket. Each night before bed, Little Dude gets to pick out a new book. Little Dude loves picking his book and having us read it to him before bed.
What kind of Christmas Family Traditions do you have?

Hi Sarah! I’m stopping in from Let’ Get Real today. My family is trying this book advent for the first time this year. We gathered books that we already owned and some from my mother-in-law who is a reading teacher (that’s code for has tons of books). We wrapped them up and each night they open them. I have beginning readers and a teenager at home and it’s funny how the teenager even wants in on the reading time. I have books for the little ones to read; books for me to read; and several of the recorded books that their God-mother recorded for them. It has been wonderful time with my family.

Hey there!
I just wanted to let you know that one of our co-hosts at The PINcentive Blog Hop chose this post as a winner, so CONGRATULATIONS! We absolutely loved this idea; how unique :o) In fact, I am running out now to get books to start the tradition with my 3 year old today! She’ll especially love it because she loves to read!
As a winner, I’d love to feature this post at our next hop and it will be pinned a minimum of 31 times by my team of pinners! Additionally, we’d love to have you co-host our next hop and choose our winner. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends and increase your following. You are also entitle to priority seating at our next hop which means I will add the URL of the post you’d like to link up manually :o)
I hope you are as excited as we are! Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. Since I’m working under a rather tight deadline, your timely response would be greatly appreciated! If you decide to co-host, I’d need your 3 preferred methods you’d like blog hop participants to follow you and the URL of the post you’d like to link up this week.
Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you! Happy Friday!

This is a fantastic idea from so many angles. No candy everyday, fostering a love for books, reading etc. And they have life after the month of December. Visiting from Wine’d Down Wednesday (I’m #64).

I kind of love this! I’m a book blogger and I think part of the key to me liking reading so much was my mom starting me early on it :).
