One of my favorite memories as a child around the holidays is when my mother started baking. I can remember being lifted up and sitting on the counter and watching her as she put all the ingredients into the bowl. Anxiously waiting for my important job as the stirrer. I would wait patiently as she measured out the flour and sugar. Watching her every move as she cracked an egg with one hand. Feeling happy and wondering if one day I would be able to crack the egg with one hand.
As I sat watching her put everything into the bowl. The anticipation would build inside of me and I couldn’t wait for my stirring job. Sometimes my job involved the electric mixer.
The highlight of baking was when my mother would let me lick the spoon. My sweet treat and reward for helping. The small taste of the homemade deliciousness we were making. The smells through our house as the homemade baked goods baked in our oven. The careful care she took wrapping them once cooked and delivering them to family, friends, and people my parents worked with; or a treat for a school party or teachers.
Sharing homemade delicious treats around the holidays warms my heart. This year, I’m making delicious Island Bread. Check out the recipe below. (Share delicious baked goods with family, friends, neighbors, teachers or use as a hostess gift).
What You Need: How To:
Gift Wrapping Ideas…
Once the Island Bread cooled, Wrap the Island Bread in plastic wrap. Use a basket, treat box, or holiday plate. (I used a wire basket).
Line the basket with paper gift bag filler.
Then wrapped it in deco mesh and twisted the ends and tied them off with twist ties to make them look like candy.
Arrange and place baked goods inside the basket.
I love to add a Hallmark Ornament and Hallmark Card. (I found this adorable Hallmark Snowman Ornament the Hallmark display at Walmart. Bonus: They have a $2 off 3 card purchase coupon right now.)
Tie with a deco mesh bow and add recipe card. Here’s the printable {IslandBreadRecipeCard}.
And vola! Ready to be delivered!
Check out more of these fabulous Hallmark Ornaments. Which is your favorite?
