For Little Dude’s Thanksgiving Party at his school, I signed up to bring the “Goodie Bag”. Originally, I thought how hard could it be. I could make a cute cake pop that looked like a turkey, wrap it all cute & festive, and make a Happy Thanksgiving label and tie it on the stick with a ribbon. Super cute idea, right? Let’s face it how many plastic goodie bag toys do we need.
Then the note came home from school. There it was in BIG, BOLD Letter. “We do love homemade treats, however, school policy forbids homemade edible treats due to students having allergies or dietary restrictions. PLEASE DO NOT BRING IN ANY MADE AT HOME TREATS. ALL TREATS MUST BE STORE MADE AND SEALED IN ORIGINAL STORE BOUGHT CONTAINER OR INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED”. I very much appreciate Little Dude’s school policy and with so many children with peanut, nut, milk, etc. allergies you can never be too safe. The last thing I would ever want to do is make a child feel bad or left out because they couldn’t have the treat I brought in or cause an allergic reaction.
My fantastic idea went poof straight out the window and I had to come up with something new. My idea, an individually wrapped Make Your Own Thanksgiving Blessing Mix! Check it out!
