‘Tis the season. I love to decorate! It does not matter the occasion, the holidays, change of seasons, and even non- holidays. I love to design, redesign, and transform a room. I like to take a room from nothing to great by adding a few things to make it beautiful and giving it that wow factor.
This year, we are traveling for the Holidays, and we will be gone for 3 weeks in December. We have decided to tame down our holiday décor this year. We usually put up three trees, and this year, we have decided to put up none. We had planned to chop down our own tree this year, since we never had a live tree before. However, since we are going to be out of town for so long, I feel like it would be a fire hazard. We have always put up an artificial tree, however; last year, I trashed it because it had past it’s time. I’m also one of those people that like to have all the decorations cleaned up and put away on the 26. So to have a tree up till we get back in January makes me cringe.
I love our home all decorated, and still wanted to decorate this year even though we would not be home. I decided to pick some areas in our home to decorate in lieu of setting up the three trees we normally set up. Our house is still festive and filled with holiday cheer even though we do not have a tree!
5 Tips and Tricks for Decorating for the Holiday’s Without a Tree!
- Decorate the fireplace mantel. I added some pre-light garland, holiday frames and hang the stockings!
- Decorate a few rooms in your house.
I decorated our dining room; I added Santa hats to the backs of the chairs, and décor on the dining room table. On a ledge, we have, I decorated it with snowmen. I hung a wreath on the inside of the door. In the kitchen and bathrooms, I added some Holiday themed decorative towels. - Decorate the outdoors. We Hung lights and decorated the outdoors with our snowman and some poinsettias’ and hung a wreath on the door outside too.
- Holiday Scents.
I also found some Glade Holiday scented candles & plug in’s at the store, to make our home smell festive. It smells like we have a tree even though we do not. - Holiday Flowers.
I also added a few poinsettias that I can move outdoors when we head out of town.
How do you decorate for the Holiday? Do you go all out or just put up a tree? Do you still decorate if you are traveling?

For many years Mr. T and I would go spend a few days with my parents at Christmas, and so, before we left, the tree and all of the decorations came down! I wasn’t going to come home, after Christmas, and have to put away all the decorations! 🙂

We decorate a tree, but I think we are going to do it early this year-around the first week of December.

If I wasn’t able to have a tree for Christmas, I would decorate our living room and dining room since we spend the most time there.
